Why Brisbane Homes Are Particularly Susceptible to Mould After Water Damage
Brisbane’s subtropical climate creates near-perfect mould growth conditions: average indoor humidity sits between 60–80% for much of the year, and ambient temperatures rarely drop below the 20°C threshold that slows mould development. Our 7-Step Brisbane Mould Remediation Process
Effective mould remediation is not a single-step spray-and-wipe process. Done properly, it follows a strict protocol designed to eliminate active mould, prevent spore spread, address the moisture source, and protect your family’s health throughout.
- Assessment and Moisture Testing. We inspect the property using HEPA-filtered equipment, thermal imaging cameras and calibrated moisture metres to map the full extent of mould growth and identify the moisture source driving it. Visible mould is often only a fraction of the actual affected area.
- Containment of the Affected Zone. The mould-affected area is sealed with heavy-duty plastic sheeting and negative air pressure is established using a negative air machine. This prevents mould spores from spreading to unaffected rooms during the remediation process.
- HEPA Air Scrubbing. Industrial HEPA air scrubbers run continuously throughout the job, capturing airborne spores released during the removal process. Standard air filters cannot capture mould spores at the 0.3-micron level — HEPA filtration is the only effective solution.
- Controlled Mould Removal. Depending on the surface type and contamination level, removal methods include HEPA vacuuming, wire brushing, controlled abrasive blasting or the removal and disposal of affected porous materials (plasterboard, insulation, carpet underlay). - Clearance Testing and Documentation. Final post-remediation testing confirms mould spore counts have returned to safe, ambient levels. We issue a full remediation report — required by most Australian insurers as part of the claims documentation.
